Our Mission

The California Affordable Housing Development Association (CAHDA) is a 501(c)(6) organization that advocates for the common business interests of California's affordable housing development industry. Founded in 2016, CAHDA is dedicated to providing a voice and forum for affordable housing developers to build sustainable communities through the development of affordable and accessible housing throughout California.

“Housing is a human right. There can be no fairness or justice in a society in which some live in homelessness, or in the shadow of that risk, while others cannot even imagine it.”

— Jordan Flaherty

Our Work

There is strength in numbers and CAHDA offers people from the affordable housing development industry an association where they have an united voice regarding the future of the affordable housing development industry. CAHDA members can discuss their common concerns with peers and learn from industry experts. One of the most popular aspects of CAHDA is its active role in legislative issues that impact the affordable housing development industry. Members are critical in making a difference in this area, and serve on several legislative workshops that focus on specific affordable housing bills or policy issues.

CAHDA connects its members with the resources to:

  • Receiving invitations to our quarterly CAHDA Talks events, End of Session Happy Hour, and honorary membership dinner

  • Accessing our wide network of fellow developers and experts relevant to the affordable housing industry, including architects, consultants, bond issuers, attorneys, and more

  • Acquiring opportunities for referrals and business development opportunities

  • Accomplishing policy objectives through legislative advocacy

  • Obtaining permit and plan approval

  • Staying apprised of bills and regulations affecting the affordable housing development industry, affordable housing events, and the organization via our monthly newsletter

  • Provide and obtain feedback on critical issues affecting the affordable housing development industry to enact policy changes on a city, county, and state level

  • Ensure strategic and sustainable growth for all communities in California
